Main Purpose of Job:
The Cyber Security Administrator plans, implements and monitors security protocols to maintain the integrity of the organization’s networks, data and security-related equipment. Provides advanced-level maintenance and support of network and security-related systems. Configures and supports security tools to monitor networks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains appropriate access and security levels throughout active directory, servers, LAN/WAN, and other security related equipment.
- Monitors system and security logs, activity and network traffic for suspicious behavior; performs remediation tasks as necessary.
- Performs risk assessments, such as vulnerability and penetration tests, to ensure security measures identify and defend against threats.
- Develops network policies, security standards and authorization roles for users to adhere to in defense against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
- Maintains current knowledge of emerging security and technology trends, vulnerabilities and breaches; makes recommendations for system protection upgrades and security standards as needed.
- Configures and provides technical support for security tools, such as firewalls, filtering and anti-virus/EDR software.
- Plans and conducts training for users to understand and adhere to security protocols.
- Generate regular reports on security status, incidents, and risks for management review
- Maintain a solid understanding of the NIST Continuous Monitoring requirements and work with leadership on required updates to our processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications/Experience/Competencies/Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or associate degree in related technical field is acceptable with two to five (2-5) years of relevant experience in cyber security and system administration; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Relevant certifications (e.g., NIST CSF, CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+) would be an asset. Network+ and Security+ certifications preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related ICT field.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and security technologies.
- Experience with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus software, and vulnerability scanners.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is an asset.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify and assess security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to develop effective solutions to complex security issues.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams within the organization.

- Hands-on experience with incident response and management.
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) an asset
