1.0 Job Summary:
This position requires a professional bartender who specializes in the art of mixology. The mixologist will combine liquors and other ingredients in order to create unique and flavourful cocktails. They must have an in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of beverage recipes and be creative in their approach to mixing drinks. They must also possess excellent customer service skills and be able to handle a high-pressure working environment. Additionally, they must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
2.0 Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve cocktails and other beverages
- Interact with customers, take orders and suggest drinks
- Maintain the bar area and keep it clean and organized
- Check customer’s identification when necessary to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations
- Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails according to recipes
- Follow safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
- Upsell drinks to customers when appropriate
3.0 Mixology Skills Necessary
- Knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
- Ability to create innovative and delicious drink combinations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
4.0 Mixology Requirements
- Excellent Knowledge of cocktail recipes, alcohol and liquor types, flavors, profiles and garnish techniques
- Ability to work with a variety of equipment including shakers, blenders, and various other tools
- Strong understanding of customer service and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere
- Outstanding communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy bottles, trays and other equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be 25 years or older
5.0 Qualifications and Experience
Training in mixology or bartending evidenced by a certificate; a minimum of three years work experience in the field; and a minimum of four CXC passes inclusive of Mathematics and English.
