To ensure sales targets and distribution points are met and to increase the sale of Company products by motivating team members to achieve same.

Key Responsibilites and Accountabilites

  • Achieve sales targets as a primary function of of the position.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective distribution of all products throughout assigned routes by systematically inspecting the marketplace.
  • Ensure effective merchandising of products in supermarkets and shops through placement of dispays in premium locations.
  • Negotiate for more display space.
  • Manage subordinates (Salesmen, Relief Salesmen and Loaders) so as to motivate and maximize sales effort. 
  • Train Salesmen, Relief Salesmen and Loaders on the field.
  • Attend to customer and product complaints. 
  • Look for new customers and business opportunities. 
  • Analyze routes to ensure efficient and effective distribution. 
  • Assess the performance of all subordinates. 
  • Ensure there are sufficient products in store and supply to customer is of the widest possible selection. 
  • Ensure that customers are not over-stocked. Be vigilant regardingrejects and product rotation in store and on vans. 
  • Ensure that vans carry sufficient inventory of goods and widest possible selection of products so as to supply entireroute and geographical area. 
  • Check periodically on Holdovers and Credit Accounts. 
  • Analyze competition products (price packaging) and distribution and report to sales manager. 
  • Verify rejects / damages regularly. 
  • Check vans on off-load days. 
  • Check for rotation of products, expired goods, damaged products, leaks in vans, vermin etc. 
  • Check short products that may come in from w/house with salesmen.
  • Analyze Route Activity-: 
  • (a)Check inventory that van is carrying sufficient products/or too much daily 
  • (b)Check sales summary-: 

          1. Dollar value 

         2. Number of customers sold. Also returned bills daily. 

    (c) Check void log for bills daily 

    (d) Route log activity for time started and finished and any gaps between daily 

    (e) Check for authorized Credits 

    (f) Monitor salesmen shortages on a daily basis 

  • Ensure Hand-Helds are returned at the end of each day in good working condition and secured. 

  • Ensure handheld is processed by communicating with IT operator and determine if there are any problems. 

  • Send Van Repair Reports to fleet manager. 

  • Dispatch sales vans on morning, assign Reliefs to Routes as required, and dispatch security to vans. 

  • Ensure all vans are in working condition ready for next day. 

  • Ensure that all complaints / reports by Salesman and any other sales / accounts / Hand-Held matters receive urgent attention. 

  • Ensure that Salesmen deposit cash with Cashier at the end of every day. 

  • Assist in other areas of work based on the needs of the department and any other area as necessary in support of Company activities. 

  • All responsibilities and accountabilities must be executed in accordance with the company’s Customer Service Management System (CSMS), Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) and Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) policies and practices.

Qualifications & Experience 
  • Five (5) O’Level passes, including Mathematics and English. 

  • Associate Degree in Business Management or equivalent would be an asset 

  • At least three (3) years’ sales experience 

  • At least two (3-5) years’ supervisory experience in a related industry. 

  • OR 10 years similar experience in a comparable position and industry. 

  • Heavy T License 

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Suite 2016)
