Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Infrastructure & Technical Services team in the capacity of:
Unix Systems Administrator
Deliver exceptional UNIX System Management & Maintenance through strategic installation, configuration, and proactive system upgrades.
Ensure the organization's capability to deliver premium services to clients by maintaining robust, highly available systems and optimizing application performance across all server environments.
Implement and maintain meticulous documentation systems for asset inventory and configuration management.
Establish server hardening protocols that exceed industry standards and meet rigorous audit requirements.
Create detailed records of all system modifications and configurations to ensure transparency and compliance.
As a Unix Systems Administrator, you will:
- Deliver an effective and efficient performance of Sagicor’s core-banking platform and other processes for branches and departments ensuring high-availability and on-time service.
- Successfully maintain Operating Systems in a manner that is compliant with established policies and KPIs.
- Establish and maintain audible records of user access in an effort to identify and trap unauthorized system access.
- Establish gold baseline images for all systems in order to ensure consistency in server configuration and deployment.
- Establish and maintain consistent connectivity and synchronization with Disaster Recovery and Cluster-base configured systems.
- Develop standards and monitor the performance of processes required for optimal system performance.
- Manage SAN Storage and monitor system disk space, usage, system logs and message queues, active jobs and outputs, for normal and error messages and to detect error codes and conditions.
- Establish optimal service efficiencies matrix in relation to maintaining optimal operations.
- Establish configuration principles that enhance process execution.
- Effectively contribute to the DevOps thrust by providing tangible suggestions capable of advancing automation of outdated manual processes.
- Perform audit requests in a timely manner with positive feedback.
- Maintain a high performing and positive working environment in accordance with established measurement matrices.
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment and dedication to team goals and objectives.
- Maintain regulatory compliance in daily activities by strictly adhering to data privacy regulations/acts and relevant cybersecurity policies, and defined standards, guidelines, and procedures to avoid non-compliance and associated risks.
- Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- At least five (5) + years’ experience administering AIX and Linux systems.
- Strong knowledge of shell scripting, including Bash and Korn.
- Experience with virtualization technologies.
- Proficiency in system performance monitoring and tuning.
- Understanding of networking protocols and security concepts.
- Strong knowledge of the intricacies of the Unix operating systems and it’s functionality in a client/server environment.
- DevOps fundamentals in ensuring automated processes are maintained optimally.
- In-depth ability to function in an environment without constant supervision and sequential task list.
- Ability to effectively assess, prioritize and execute tasks in a client-centric environment.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
