Key Insurance Company Limited invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the following position:

Underwriter

Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the company’s non-motor operations strategy through business development and growth by building relations with assigned brokers and applying sound decision making to underwrite business that contributes to a profitable portfolio.

The position is based in Kingston. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic and organized individual, with strong communication and relationship building skills, and an ability to build and leverage networks. At minimum, applicants should possess the following:

  • First Degree in Business Management or related field or pursuing professional Insurance Certification
  • Technical training in all classes of insurance
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a general insurance environment
  • Registration with the Financial Services Commission
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles and practices
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and decision making
  • Detail Oriented
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or individually
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan and organize
  • Strong customer relations skill, poise, tact and diplomacy
  • High level of confidentiality, honesty, integrity, creativity, persistence and achievement orientation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint etc.]
