An organization in the General Insurance industry is seeking to fill the position of Underwriter. The position underwrites risk referred based on the company’s established underwriting guidelines.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

 

  • Ability to underwrite motor and property general insurance business.
  • Provide quotations of intermediaries, customers and other parties for all risks referred, within company guidelines.
  • Communicate with customers, intermediaries and other external sources on underwriting matters.
  • Appropriately underwrite and price risks in accordance with the company’s underwriting standards, regulatory insurance requirements and personal underwriting authority level.
  • Educate brokers on company policies regarding underwriting.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tertiary level qualifications in a business related discipline;
  • Certificate in General and Property Insurance;
  • Salesman License - General Insurance;
  • Three years of experience in general insurance underwriting, with a strong understanding of underwriting processes and procedures;
Required skills and specialized techniques

  •  Sound proficiency in:

    • MICROSOFT Applications Word, Power Point and EXCEL;
    • Knowledge in 4D Underwriter is an asset.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and on own initiative;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and remain calm under pressure;
