Job Title: Truck Driver


Position Overview:

The Truck Driver plays a critical role in providing outstanding customer service while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company vehicles and equipment. This position requires a responsible, courteous, and team-oriented individual who adheres to operational guidelines and safety protocols.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Always wear the company-issued uniform while on duty.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of the truck (including tyres, oil, water, etc.) to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Confirm possession of landfill tickets before departing the Recycling Centre.
  • Operate trucks along designated routes as instructed.
  • Communicate promptly with the dispatcher regarding any delays, unsafe locations, accidents, emergencies, or hazards.
  • Report any vehicle or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Maintain and care for all tools and devices issued to support job functions (e.g., lug tools, cell phone, adjustable wrench, etc.).
  • Monitor fuel levels and report when refuelling is necessary.
  • Assist Waste Technicians with relevant duties as needed.
  • Offload refuse or recyclables at designated disposal sites.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Personal Competencies:

  • Demonstrates honesty, trustworthiness, courtesy, and professionalism at all times.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication with clients and coworkers.
  • Basic knowledge of auto-mechanics is an asset.
  • Physically fit and capable of handling physically demanding tasks.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and tolerate outdoor conditions including heat and dust.

Qualifications & Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience driving trucks with a minimum weight of 10,000 kg.
  • Possession of a valid Jamaican Open General Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record.
  • Certification from HEART Trust NTA.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and early mornings.
  • Current Police Record required.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to: Assistant Operations Manager
  • Works closely with: Fleet Service Supervisor
