Driver is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform maintenance checks and basic mechanical duties on assigned equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Loading, transporting, and delivering items in a safe, timely manner.
Ensure all relevant delivery documents have been properly completed and are available before leaving the compound.
Ensure delivery vehicle and load is checked by security before leaving the compound.
Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles. Gives directions to loader in packing and moving goods.
Accepting payments for delivered items and provide invoices and receipts when necessary.
Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from customers.
Immediately contacting the Warehouse Supervisor to report any discrepancies, problems or customer complaints received.
Ensures loads are secure, optimized, properly stacked and covers (where required) before and whilst transporting, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Assist with planning delivery routes to ensure efficient and timely delivery at all times.
Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
Maintaining driver log, preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries.
Operating equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, pick-ups, forklifts, etc.
As an operator of these equipment, it is expected that you be observant at all times and continuously check to ensure that all equipment is in good working condition.
Ensure that all vehicles are kept clean at all times.
Collect empty pallets for relevant customers. Ensure pallets collected are in good condition.
Inspects truck daily and submits report indicating truck condition.
Manoeuvres truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed.
Ensure vehicle is safely and securely stored when not in use.
Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as required.
Immediately reporting any damages, expiries, shortages, non-conformance or breach of warehouse, quality or HSE to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Assist with any other warehousing duties as required by the Warehouse Supervisor or designate.
Conforms to all established departmental & company policies, procedures & objectives, fulfils the requirements of CGA Ltd.’s SQF Program including but not limited to GMPs, PPE, HACCP, food safety & HSE site protocols.
Undergo any job-related training required by the company.
