The Treasury Custodian is responsible for securely handling, verifying, and storing cash and valuables within the vault, ensuring security protocols are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACTIVITIES

Manage all processes and functions executed by:

 

  1. 1.     Treasury Cash Inventory
  • Ensure physical cash held in the assigned treasuries are counted and reconciled with reports and balances as per standard operating procedures.
  • Perform checks, verification and distribution of cash orders to all branches.
  • Ensure all treasury balances are verified at the end of each day and discrepancies reported immediately.
  • Ensure all cash disbursed are receipted and accounted for at the end of each day.
  • Ensure that all cash received are documented and accounted for at the end of each day.
  • Oversee the daily movements of mobile assets assigned and ensure no misuse in line with the guidelines provided by Group Information Technology.
  • The relevant documents must be completed, printed and signed in dual custody as evidence that cash was counted and treasuries balanced at the end of each day.
  • Adhere to all internal controls, regulatory guidelines, and company policies related to cash handling and security.
  • Report any breaches, losses, or suspicious activities immediately to Supervisors.
  • Ensure availability and proper use of cash handling tools, safes, locks, bags, seals, and other supplies.
  • Work closely with Coordinators and Cash Processing teams to ensure accurate flow of information.
  • Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of the position.
  1. 2.     Project Management
  • Support operational treasury transformation and participate in business continuity planning, and system upgrade projects.
  • Attend all assigned project meetings and participate as per assigned role.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • An associate degree in accounting, business, management, or finance is required with a minimum of 3-4 years' experience in supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in monitoring a cash holding with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Takes on all issues, challenges and people.
  • Ability to work autonomously and be part of the broader team.
  • Understanding of the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong client relationship management and customer service skills.
  • Team player with the ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple parties.
