A food distribution company in Kingston has a vacancy for a Trailer Driver for full-time employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods islandwide, including the transfer of containers from the Kingston Port to our warehouse location.

A food distribution company in Kingston has a vacancy for a Trailer Driver for full-time employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods islandwide, including the transfer of containers from the Kingston Port to our warehouse location.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Operate tractor-trailers and other large units on assigned islandwide routes
  • Transfer containers from the Kingston Port to the company's warehouse in a safe and timely manner
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles before and after each journey
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance to ensure vehicles remain in optimal operating condition
  • Report mechanical faults, accidents, or incidents promptly to the relevant supervisor
  • Adhere to all road traffic regulations and company safety policies at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and delivery documentation
  • Assist with loading and offloading duties as required
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with port authorities, customers, and the public
Qualifications & Experience 
  • Minimum 3 years' experience driving tractor-trailers and other large commercial vehicles
  • Valid articulated driver's licence
  • Current Police Record (mandatory for port access)
  • Sound knowledge of basic truck maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with islandwide routes and road conditions
  • Physically fit and able to manage a strenuous and demanding work schedule
  • Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and time management
  • Demonstrated flexibility with work schedule, including evenings and weekends as required
