The Trading Strategist is responsible for trading in securities, taking of a spread or intermediation for a fee. To execute all trades within Guardian Asset Management for its client portfolios.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Trading Strategist is responsible for executing securities trades for both client portfolios and the company's proprietary portfolio. The role involves active trading in equities, bonds, and derivatives with the objective of achieving investment gains. The incumbent also contributes to investment strategy development through ongoing market analysis and trade idea generation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Report to Management and Investment Committees on Portfolio holdings
2. Execute local and international equity and option trades for GAM and its client portfolios.
3. Write investment briefs on trade ideas for distribution to clients.
4. Execute bond trades and participate in local T/Bill and Bond auctions on behalf of GAM and its client portfolios.
5. Actively research and monitor markets to identify strategies and make recommendations for option/equity trade ideas.
6. Monitor all positions taken on behalf of GAM for risk management and exit strategies.
7. Assess investment opportunities for inventory of securities for interest income and/or gains.
8. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Senior Manager Trading and Treasury.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- An undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a trading or similar investment role.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The Trading Strategist must possess analytical, technical and creative thinking skills and knowledge of the global macroeconomic environment and financial markets are essential. He/ She must be willing to share ideas in a group setting.
