The Temporary Internal Controls Specialist will support the company in the continuous improvement process of its internal control culture and lead the design, implementation and management of the Caribbean Market’s internal control framework set by the regional internal control team.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the implementation process of internal controls through counsel of the business areas in Barbados and Puerto Rico.
- Tests the internal control framework of the market, with the purpose of: identifying the effectiveness of its control activities, providing recommendations, adding value to the different business areas and mitigating the operational risks of the market.
- Promotes a healthy control culture based on risk management to the business areas.
- Complies with established values, policies and procedures.
- Manages training and communication sessions related to the control framework and the consequences of non-compliance.
- Monitors the progress of the action plans identified in the self-assessment process, internal audits, external audits or the risk assessment process.
- Supports regional projects and reports to the Head of Internal Control Americas any situations that could damage the local control environment.
- Ensures accurate upload of information in Teammate/BlackLine.
- Maintains communication flow between the Head of Internal Control Americas and CARCAM and local management.
- Supports the implementation of the ERM methodology.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related qualification
- A minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience in a similar function
- Extensive knowledge of integrated business risk management, internal controls and process redesign
- Experience with internal or external audit
- Knowledge of information systems software
- Knowledge of prevention of money laundering and data protection
- Proficient in Spanish both written and verbal an asset
