Are you passionate about advanced telecommunications systems? We’re looking for a Telecommunications Engineer to join our IT team

JOB SUMMARY

The Telecommunications Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust telecommunications systems across the organization. This includes managing VoIP, PBX systems, SIP trunking, and supporting infrastructure to ensure optimal voice and video communications.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, design, and implement scalable telecommunications solutions including VoIP, PBX systems, SIP trunking, and legacy IP telephony infrastructure
  • Collaborate with the Network & Infrastructure Manager to administer and maintain WAN/LAN infrastructure to support voice and video traffic, ensuring high availability and QoS.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex issues across telecom platforms, including legacy systems and modern IP-based technologies.
  • Lead the planning and execution of upgrades, migrations, and integration of new technologies in alignment with business requirements.
  • Develop and enforce technical standards, policies, and procedures related to telecommunications usage, security, and compliance
  • Collaborate with Internet Service Providers to support telecommunication infrastructure projects and resolve service issues.
  • Collaborate with the Telecommunications Coordinator/Field Support Coordinator in managing telecom hardware and software assets, including inventory control and lifecycle management.
  • Provide guidance on IP telephony, PBX and engineering best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and performance tuning.
  • Produce and maintain detailed documentation for PBX system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Provide regular and periodic written reports to the direct report on all areas of responsibility
  • Partner with internal and external vendors and stakeholders to communicate project status, activities, and achievements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • First degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Professional certifications (CCNA/CCNP Collaboration, Avaya, SIP School) are heavily valued assets
  • 2 – 4 years of hands-on telecommunications experience
  • Working knowledge of IP telephony, call routing and telecom network design
  • Working knowledge of maintaining networking systems and real-time protocols (SIP, RTP, QoS)
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting tools (such as WireShark, etc)
  • Working knowledge of current PBX systems
  • Working knowledge of telecom management platforms and monitoring tools
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and team-work, communication and interpersonal skills
