OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
The Technician I, Gas Transmission and Distribution:
- Facilitates the safe and efficient collection, separation and transmission of natural gas supplied to the company's Beachfield Facilities, the Tobago Gas Receiving Facility (TGRF), the Union Industrial Estate (UIE) and Phoenix Park Valve Station (PPVS) Natural Gas Facilities.
- Reproduces the safe and efficient operating conditions of the pipeline network inclusive of the Cross Island Pipeline (CIP) by preliminary monitoring and controlling the gas volumes and pressures from suppliers and consumers to maintain a balance on the system.
There are eleven (11) vacancies for this position with candidates being assigned to the various locations stated above - Beachfield Facility, the Tobago Gas Receiving Facility (TGRF), Union Industrial Estate (UIE) and Phoenix Park Valve Station (PPVS). The successful incumbent/s assigned to TGRF, UIE or PPVS will not be required to be resident onsite upon completion of daily duties in accordance with the hours of work stipulated in the employment contract.
FUNCTIONS
- Identifies and ensures adherence to the monitoring and recording of gas temperatures, flows, pressures and levels on slug catchers, separators, tanks, pipelines, compressors, generators, and related equipment to allow a safe, efficient and a continuous reliable operation of the GTD manned locations.
- Interprets and reproduces a variety of tasks to safely maintain facility equipment and pipeline operations, including reading/interpreting drawings, inspecting/monitoring equipment and maintaining operational/technical standards and/or governmental requirements.
- Completes assigned tasks to the pipeline network inclusive of Cross Island Pipeline (CIP) operations in a safe and efficient manner.
- Adheres to the supply and demand conditions to maintain volume and pressure balance on the gas system.
- Performs analysis and trending of all data monitored and recorded and reports any abnormal deviations or malfunctions to relevant personnel in a timely manner.
- Performs initial troubleshooting and operational checks by visible and audible observations of the equipment in operation under supervision. Records required operating parameters and reports abnormal conditions malfunctions to the Technician II/III Operations or Team Leader Gas Transmission and Distribution.
- Assists with operational functions for isolation, start-up and shutdown of the plant, pipelines, machinery and equipment in the Facility, Pig Receiver and Launcher under supervision.
- Performs functional and other checks on gas, fire, safety and lifesaving equipment and other protection systems to ensure proper functionality and escalate where necessary for abnormalities.
- Prepares daily facility logs and reports and provides information to relevant internal personnel, as necessary.
- Performs housekeeping tasks at the facility to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Comprehends all works being performed within the facility by Contractors and other Company Technicians to ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE&S), Permit to Work and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) requirements.
- Provides safe maintenance in receiving and launching pigs, including the insertion and removal of pigs from the Pig Receivers and Launchers.
- Adheres to all NGC approved Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE&S), policies and industry accepted Best Practices and Standards.
- Provides accurate operations and maintenance information and support to the relevant personnel in the compilation of all applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Balance Scorecard and Departmental Reports.
- Performs workplace inspections, and safety drills, and participates in other Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE&S), inspections and assessments of employees and contractors, worksite conditions and the facility. Identifies potential gaps in HSE&S behaviours and compliance and identifies risks/hazardous conditions, to facilitate the strengthening of the Department's HSE&S performance.
- Facilitates activities to contact essential services, in-house emergency task force and on-call duty personnel in the event of an emergency or disaster.
- Identifies monthly failover exercises from one Control Room to other operating Control Rooms within Pipeline Operations.
- Records, the safe collection, accurate measurement and disposal/transfer of condensate and hydrocarbon liquids.
- Modifies existing procedures as required to ensure work is executed in accordance with established standards and in accordance with accurate specifications.
- Executes any other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The minimum requirements for the position are:
- A National Technician's Diploma in MET, MEET, EEET, IIET, Chemical Engineering Diploma, Natural Gas Engineering or in a related field of study.
- A minimum of two (2) year's working experience in Operations and Maintenance of a Natural Gas Processing Facility, a Condensate Processing Facility or a Petrochemical Processing Facility or similar type of operation.
