OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
The Technician I, Custody Transfer:
- Executes Measurement Services where calibration, inspection, witnessing and proving of all measurement equipment is required.
- Ensures the monitoring of natural gas and condensate transmitted and distributed along the pipeline network.
FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with others in carrying out calibration checks on instruments and measuring devices to ensure serviceability and conformity to required specifications.
- Ensures certified test equipment are always available for use.
- Aids in rectifying operational problems related to Measurement equipment.
- Supports the installation, commissioning and inspection of all gas quality equipment including Gas chromatographs, Composite samplers and similar analysers.
- Assists in the conduct/witnessing of liquid prove meters in accordance with industry standard.
- Supports in installing and configuring electronic flow measurement computers.
- Aids in identifying the requirements for preparing the necessary request for the purchase of tools, material and equipment relative to the section’s operations.
- Aids in taking samples of pipeline fluids to be analysed by independent laboratories.
- Prepares weekly reports on work plans on CMMS and submits in accordance with stipulated timeframes.
- Provides support in diagnosing abnormal measurement readings/settings/conditions and records and reports on same and aids in taking the necessary actions to correct the abnormality.
- Assists in taking accurate PD readings of LIC customers to determine volume usage.
- Maintains proper housekeeping of the workshop by ensuring equipment, tools and waste materials are placed in the correct area after use.
- Assists the Technician II while representing NGC in the calibration and/or proving at supplier stations to ensure accuracy of devices and conformance to industry standards as required.
- Assists Technician II/Team Leader/Supervisor in performing meter tube inspections and associated equipment.
- Assists in the proving and recertification of the condensate turbine meter and sampler.
- Aids in recertifying meter integrity and serviceability by supporting Positive Displacement (PD) meter maintenance and proving at LIC installations in accordance with contractual obligation to the client.
- Supports the development of procedures, JHA, MOC’s, as per approved change management system.
- Responds to pipeline emergencies as necessary and in accordance with service level agreements.
- Executes any other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The minimum requirements for the position are:
- A National Technician’s Diploma in Electrical Electronic Engineering Technician (EEET) or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Technician EIET.
- A minimum of two (2) year’s working experience in Operations and Measurement at a Natural Gas Processing Facility, a Condensate Processing Facility, a Petrochemical Processing Facility or a similar type of operation.
