The Technical Support Manager – Local/Export is to provide technical assistant in all areas to support and promote the use of the company’s line of products, in addition to recommending and participating in the development of new products as dictated by future trends in the marketplace.

Scope of Work

  • The Technical Support Manager – Local/Export is to provide technical assistant in all areas to support and promote the use of the company’s line of products, in addition to recommending and participating in the development of new products as dictated by future trends in the marketplace.
  • Development of a training regime in conjunction with the Technical Department for key personnel employed in both the local and export markets.
  • Development of strategy for raising customer awareness in product use and specifications.
  • Responsible for all technical training for Technical Support Representatives, local and overseas.
  • Conducting and coordinating Customer Clinics and Seminars (including demonstration of product use/application) in conjunction with the Marketing Manager and Retail Liaison and Technical Support Officer in both the local and export markets.
  • Providing technical assistance to all sales representatives as the need arises.
  • Developing new markets – technically, on a geographical basis in relation to retail outlets to increase market share in conjunction with the Retail Manager.
  • Developing new markets overseas to create product awareness and acceptance, in conjunction with the General Sales Manager, Export Manager & Marketing Manager.
  • Recommend and participate in the development of new products offerings and improving existing ones, in conjunction with the Chief Chemist, in order to deepen our existing product lines.
  • Provide data to enable the planning and implementing of marketing strategies in conjunction with the Retail Manager and Marketing & Export Manager.
  • Provide data on market trends and future trends to aid the planning process.
  • Trouble shoot and resolve issues arising from improper use of the products, etc. to achieve customer satisfaction as a means of damage control.
  • Provide support in forecasting and planning new strategies or counter strategies to address the impact of competitors in the marketplace, in conjunction with the General Sales Manager & Marketing Manager
  • Attend training seminars both locally and overseas as the need arises.
  • Scheduled meetings with Technical Team and Retail Manager
  • Scheduled visits to retails store regions every quarter in conjunction with Retail Manager and Retail Liaison and Technical Support Officer.
  • Monitor Retail Sales performance against approved sales budgets in the local Retail Market.
  • Employing, directing, training and developing personnel on a day-to-day basis in conjunction with the Marketing Manager, Retail Manager, Technical Manager and Technical Representatives, to achieve quality sales delivery in the local and overseas market.
  • Assist Retail Manager in the monitoring of inventory, product and raw material usage, in accordance with inventory control policies, including Off Shades, Usage Reports, Retail Orders, Stock Count Reports, etc.
  • Management of retail outlet operations on a day-to-day basis, to ensure that adequate tools are available for the execution of the required tasks, in conjunction with Retail Technician.
  • Assist in the planning and coordinating all Christmas Customer Appreciation days and the associated Christmas giveaways in conjunction with the Retail Manager and Retail Liaison and Technical Support Officer, Marketing/Export Manager and the Marketing Coordinator for the retail outlets.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day administrative functions of the retail stores located in St. James, Trelawny and Westmoreland, in conjunction with the Retail Manager and Retail Liaison and Technical Support Officer. Areas include Collections and Remittances, HR Related queries, etc.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that accidents and any insurance related incidents are promptly reported to the Retail Manager, HR Department and General Manager.
  • Any other duties assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Tertiary level education, specializing in Marketing
  • Industrial, Furniture, Automotive & Decorative finishes manufacturing, as well as Supervisory Management, leadership skills, supervisory, problem solving and training skills are an asset.
  • The incumbent will be adaptable and tolerant of the constant changes brought on by the nature of developing new products in conjunction with the Chief Chemist, resolving issues related to existing products and meeting the demand of the customers.
  • Knowledge of product planning, marketing research, consumer behavior and advertising, capital budgeting, entrepreneurship and sales forecasting are also helpful.
  •  Knowledge and usage of Microsoft word and excel

 

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years industry experience at a supervisory level is required.
