The duties include identifying new sales opportunities, informing regular customers of new products, and meeting sales targets. A Sales Representative may also deliver orders and collect payments. This role services the industrial sales channel consisting of companies with operations in oil and gas, manufacturing, marine, transportation and haulage, mining and quarrying, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve existing customers by visiting on a regular basis, selling products and meeting customer needs.
- Visit potential customers, evaluate their needs, provide solutions, and add them to our existing customer network.
- Generate orders and quotations for all customer requests.
- Ensure all documentation including invoices, returns, claims, transfers, and other documentation is properly signed by all parties.
- Manage customers' transactions, payments and outstanding accounts to ensure smooth transaction of business.
- Follow up on outstanding orders for customers.
- Receive incoming calls directed to Division Sales and assist with queries and questions related to the Company and its products.
- Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- Collect cash and cheques for COD and Credit invoices due to the Company and generate payments and receipts for all collections.
- Reconcile customer payments and remit collections to a Company Cashier or Company bank account on a daily basis.
- Complete the Salesman’s Daily Report indicating the Customers and Potential Customers visited with a brief indication of the topics discussed and sales potential. This Report must be handed in to your Manager on a daily basis.
- Deliver urgent orders where possible.
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
- Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
- Provide technical knowledge about the products to customers.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Refer customers to your supervisor where their needs extend beyond your ability to deliver the highest quality of service.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Check the tray provided for you each morning to ensure that you receive any messages that may have been left for you on the previous day.
- Go the "extra mile" to meet sales quota and facilitate future sales.
- Maintain the Sales Van assigned to you and ensure that routine services are performed, the vehicle is clean and presentable at all times, and that you drive courteously and in observance of all traffic regulations to portray a proper image of the Company.
- Ensure that all safety rules and regulations are observed while performing duties.

- Computer literate in Microsoft office applications.

- Knowledge of the industrial market is an asset.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 CXC or GCE passes, including Mathematics and English.
- 5 years of sales experience in the industry.
- Sales Training is an asset
Special Requirements
- Willing to work overtime on holidays or weekends, whenever necessary
- Always on call to assist clients.
