WHAT YOU WILL DO: Christel House Jamaica is seeking a dedicated and caring Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and help create a positive, engaging learning environment for our students. This is a permanent position. The Teacher Assistant will work alongside the lead teacher to facilitate learning, support student development, and help maintain an organised and nurturing classroom aligned with the Christel House model.
SALARY RANGE: JMD $1,317,600 – 1,866,759 per annum
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
Early Childhood Development (NCTVET NVQ-J Level III or its equivalent)
A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience
Required Skills and Specialised Techniques
The ability to write a differentiated 5E lesson plan in accordance with the curriculum
Ability to effectively communicate with children and parents
Must be patient and able to work with children
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of technology and teaching applications
Problem analysis and problem-solving skills
Collaborative skills and adaptability
Customer service orientation
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Support & Instruction
Assist in teaching all areas of the primary curriculum
Must be able to control, monitor, and teach the class in the teacher’s absence
Assist in preparing and presenting lessons that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the class
Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentations
Classroom Environment
Organising the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment
Maintaining student discipline
Monitoring play time and play area
Assessment & Development
Taking responsibility for supporting the progress of primary-age pupils
Preparing and marking work to facilitate positive pupil development
Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB
May be required to work beyond normal working hours during school events, meetings, and special activities
Participation in extracurricular, enrichment, and school-related activities may be required
Participation in professional development and staff training initiatives is required
