As Tax Attorney in our Guyana office, you will team with tax professionals to provide comprehensive tax solutions. You will build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to moderately complex situations. You will support on the development of junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals. 

Your key responsibilities

• Research statute, case law and practice, and apply results to specific client needs
• Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to moderately complex situations 
• Draft memoranda and/or opinions advising clients on tax advisory matters 
• Prepare tax returns for corporations and individuals
• Develop budgets, determine resource requirements, and direct/monitor engagements
• Maintain continuous interaction with clients, manage expectations and provide outstanding client service
• Assists in training and motivating Staff 1 and Staff 2 personnel and client serving associates
• Contribute to the overall success of the team by developing a thorough understanding of EY methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery; keeping team members informed of work status; actively seeking assignments when unassigned; proactively seeking opportunities to provide tax services; challenging traditional procedures used in the past; and attempting to find new approaches.

What we look for

• A bachelor's degree in law (LLb)
• Legal Education Certificate (LEC) would be an asset
• Tax experience including a broad exposure to tax advisory and tax compliance would be an asset
