RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING SUPPORT TO CLIENTS DESIROUS OF LIVING ORGAN DONATION AND ORGAN TRANSPLANT, POST-OPERATIVE CARE AND FOLLOW-UP, AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA):
TRANSPLANT COORDINATOR
The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to clients desirous of living organ donation and organ transplant, post-operative care and follow-up, and educational outreach.
Main Responsibilities:
- Educate clients about the processes and procedures required for safe and ethical work-up prior to organ donation and transplant, and support them during this preparatory phase.
- Advise post-operative patients on therapies for managing their health after organ donation and transplant, and monitor and assess their progress.
- Participate in the development and implementation of protocols and standards of care for the transplant patient in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate with multidisciplinary team members, patients and families in a timely manner with regard to patient care issues.
- Consult with leadership to resolve issues relating to transplant patients.
- Maintain up-to-date medical records for all potential recipients, potential donors, and all post-transplant donors and recipients.
- Maintain and update the Living Donor Registry, the Voluntary Deceased Donor Registry (VDDR), Transplant Activity Registry and the National Registry of Actual Deceased Donors.
- Assist in developing patient education materials.
- Serve as a resource person/preceptor on organ donation and transplantation for graduate and undergraduate nursing programs, and education materials of other healthcare professionals regarding the care of organ donors and recipients.
- Enhance the body of knowledge via research and publish data for nursing staff and colleagues concerning current issues in transplantation including those of clinical, legal, ethical and economic nature.
- Serve as a resource person for the community, public organisations, and persons desirous of organ donation or transplantation services.
- Participate actively in community/public education programs of organ donation and transplantation.
- Efficiently use available media including, but not limited to, PowerPoint presentations, lectures, webinars, telephone and internet links for imparting information about transplantation and organ donation.
- Provide timely feedback to key stakeholders outside of normal working hours.
- Perform other related duties incidental to work describes herein.
Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ post-graduate nursing experience with training and working experience in Intensive Care Nursing, Dialysis, High Dependency Care Nursing, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatrics, Operating Theatre or similar specialized areas.
- Current registration with Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
- Working experience with an organ transplant team or organ procurement team will be considered an asset.
- Microsoft Office Suite Certification will be considered an asset.
*Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
