Systems Engineer

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the position of Systems Engineer in the Information Technology Department.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Configure, and maintain enterprise systems infrastructure including, network devices, servers, operating systems, virtualization, and backup platforms, to ensure performance and maximum uptime high.
• Administer and support Windows/Linux server environments, including Active Directory and patch management.

• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including participation in DR testing and business continuity initiatives.
• Assist in network management and performance monitoring by using security best practices, including vulnerability management, patching, preparing documentation and making recommendation for upgrades.

• Providing support on major project initiatives that require network infrastructure involvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Support IT risk management by identifying system vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and implementing mitigation strategies

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• A first degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Technical Certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or its equivalent

• At least three (3) years’ working experience in the areas of data communication protocols and topologies used with PCs and small multi-users systems.
• Working Knowledge of all Windows Operating Systems, UNIX, Internet concepts and technologies and industry de-facto standard communication protocols e.g. TCP/IP
• Have working knowledge of security principles and concepts. 
• In-depth knowledge of networking fundamentals, such as Firewalls, VLANS DNS and DHCP.

• In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software and networking.
• Sound knowledge of Client/Server applications and Network Operating Systems.
• Experience in network and/or systems administration.
• MCP or CCNA certifications would be an asset
• Possession of a valid driver’s licence
