Systems Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Systems Engineer in the Process Systems and Solutions (PSS) Department, you will be responsible for providing engineering solutions as it relates to Control Systems, that supports business unit operational excellence, customer satisfaction, product and service growth, and includes the following duties & responsibilities:
Note: A Newly appointed Systems Engineer may require a development period alongside Senior Engineering personnel, to ensure competency integration and/or development, specific to the company’s needs and that of its business customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work in a team under the overall guidance of the project manager (Process Systems and Solutions Manager).
- Share accountability with the Senior Systems Engineer for activities regarding process control system design and safety systems.
- Validate project scope documentation and design reliable and extensible control strategies in accordance with clients' requirements.
- Work with other engineers to define the standards and/or requirements that will direct the solution to a customer’s problem (e.g. contributes to pre-FEED or FEED).
- Prepare necessary project documentation e.g. functional design specifications, management of change, quality assurance and testing documents.
- Conduct customer verification tests and acceptance testing.
- Work with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams to develop and maintain instrument databases, control module design and creation of user interface graphics for the DCS and SIS systems.
- Resolve issues which require an intimate knowledge of automation technologies either independently or in conjunction with a team.
- Provide technical assistance and support for client’s installed base, both offshore and onshore.
- Identify opportunities to improve client operational effectiveness and provide reliable solutions to achieve these objectives.
- Develop technical documentation, specifications, procedures and training for client use.
SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with marketing and strategic planning as required.
- Assist in training/developing new team members.
- Interact with other internal teams to optimize team performance, identify opportunities for new business, identify opportunities for work process improvement, ensure open communication between group members, as well as support improvement of internal work practices.
- Serve as a technical resource to other departments when required.
- All other reasonable and related responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
A Minimum of a Completed BSc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering or similarqualification, from an accredited institution.
- 5-7 years' experience in an industrial/service environment, with intermediate knowledge of the primary/secondary duties outlined above.
- Experience with troubleshooting small and medium networks.

License:
- Experienced driver with Class 3, Driving Permit.

OTHER WORK-RELATED REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS:
Work to be executed both in an office environment and at customer sites. Site assignments may consist of a number of consecutive or inconsecutive days, both on onshore or offshore facilities, depending on the job requirements. Work may also be executed remotely, via specific technology platforms.
Other conditions include:
- Extensive sitting with long hours on computer keyboard.
- Must be able to wear the minimum level of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction, which may include but is not limited to, safety glasses and hearing protection where applicable, (facial hair may be disallowed at some customer sites).
- The ability to wear a safety helmet without restriction at customer sites, where required.
- Must be comfortable working with Electrical Systems up to 120VAC. Must have the ability to perform work with frequent walking, standing, reaching and climbing on heights.
- The possibility of working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines, may exist.
- The possibility of planned or unexpected work assignments outside of regular working hours/days, may exist for this position.
- Driving in varying traffic, weather conditions, long distances with varying road conditions.
- Over-night, extended and unplanned work assignments.
