System Administrator

Summary of Position:

The System Administrator is accountable for ensuring the optimal use of the Information Technology/Business Systems and ensuring that support of the Information Technology/Business Systems is executed. In addition to the maintenance of administration of the existing infrastructure, the Systems Administrator will be required to assist with the support of new technology and assist in ensuring effective project execution of the implementation of any new systems.     

 

Principal Accountabilities / Key Functions:

  • Oversee and manage all software and hardware systems and infrastructure of the Credit Union and in consultation with IT Manager;
  • Manage the planning and procurement of all software and hardware implementation, additions, deletions and major modifications to ensure alignment and optimization to the company’s needs and requirements;
  • Participates in and leads where required in discussions and roll-out of IT and IT related systems across the Credit Union;
  • Continuously analyzes the software, hardware and network infrastructure, identifies gaps and provides solutions in a timely manner to ensure seamless functioning and minimal downtime of all IT systems;
  • Supervise all IT operating systems and services and analyse all end user requirements and develop solutions for the same;
  • Analyze and review systems backup, archiving, and disaster recovery plans to allow for quick recovery with minimum downtime and protection of company’s assets and information;
  • Oversee and manage the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all computer equipment, servers and networks to ensure system efficiency and integrity;
  • Provides a high level of service and support to users of computer systems and related information systems ensuring prompt resolution of all queries and request for support;
  • Completes projects through developed schedules, identifying and allocating resources, assignment and monitoring of work, problem resolution, maintaining reference materials and how to guides and implementing new procedures were necessary;
  • Builds and maintains vendor relationships in the procurement of hardware and software products and services;
  • Ensures that the company IT assets and infrastructure are secured and are maintained responsibly;
  • Develops and communicates IT plans, policies, procedures and work instructions to Management and Staff.
  • Conducts general and end user training as required.   
  • Assists with day-to-day supervision of staff as required.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or designate.
  • Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
  • Install and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.
  • Evaluate and modify system's performance.
  • Determine network and system requirements.
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
  • Design and deploy networks.
  • Perform network address assignment.
  • Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration.
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
  • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.
  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
  • Responsibility for managing information systems in the company.
  • Analyzing company needs regarding its information systems.
  • Designing and implementing information systems.
  • Providing technical support to users.
  • Collecting and recording requirements for change.
  • Providing telephone and e-mail support for end users to a limited extent.
  • Asking questions in order to determine the nature and seriousness of the problem.
  • Identifying the cause of the problem and proposing possible solutions.
  • Independent solving of routine problems of end users.
  • Providing guidance to end users regarding the use of products and services.
  • Assist with the implementation of new loan products and services on core banking software.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of all social media outputs.

 

 

 

Required Technical Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

 

Minimum

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification; 

Certifications:

  • Certification in A+, Network, MSCE, CCNA/CCDA certification would be desirable.

Experience:

Minimum

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar position with extensive technical experience with server infrastructure maintenance and capacity planning, network infrastructure, server, database application, software and hardware installation and maintenance.
