We are funded by philanthropic organisations, including the Rockefeller Foundation, Quadrature Climate Foundation, Ballmer Group, European Climate Foundation, and Packard Foundation, IKEA Foundation, Oak Foundation, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet and Good Energies Foundation through Climate Breakthrough.
The candidate’s main focus will be to research, analyze, and provide recommendations in line with policies and regulations related to procurement of renewable energy generation in the Caribbean Region countries.
You will succeed in this role if you can adapt to working with different legal systems and regulations in the electricity sector, bringing your knowledge and experience while learning the particularities of each country we work with. In your role, you can attend meetings with authorities from the different countries and propose and discuss regulatory improvements in order to carry out the project for aggregating the procurement of renewable energy generation in the Caribbean Region. Having a hands-on attitude and being a proactive team player are also key features to perform well in this role.

Identifying pathways for potential development or weaknesses and/or regulatory obstacles that hinder or prevent the massive development of renewable energy and energy storage systems in the countries part of the Caribbean Aggregation Project.
Innovating and implementing best practices in the development of renewable energy.
Being innovative, a pioneer, and generating out-of-the-box proposals relating to renewable energy.
Analysing in depth the legal frameworks and regulations of the electricity sector of the countries joining the Caribbean Aggregation Project.
Investigating and analysing legal frameworks and regulations of the electricity sector of the countries part of the Caribbean Aggregation Project.
Investigating the background on renewable energy in the region (specific regulations, contracting modalities, promotional incentives, etc.).
Proposing regulatory improvements in the electricity sector that allow the massive deployment of renewable energies and energy storage systems in the region.
Drafting regulations, requests for proposals, and Power Purchase Agreements and related contracts.
8-10 years of general professional practice;
Law Degree in the Caribbean Region (required).
5 years in the power sector practice. Experience in the renewable energy sector and storage is desirable.
Specialised in power sector regulation.
Proficiency in English.
Knowledge about global trends in renewable energy and energy storage systems tends to the implementation of best practices in the design of tenders in which RELP participates.
Expertise in storage regulation.
Fluent Spanish
