Primary responsibilities include the timely provision of quantitative and qualitative quality control analytical data for Nutrien Trinidad site.
What you will do:
Interface with all appointed cargo referees to ensure optimum efficiency in sampling and testing schedule during vessel loading.
Ensure that product certification data are ready in a timely manner for Marketing and Shipping personnel.
Interface with Instrument Service Engineers for troubleshooting instrument malfunctions as well as general preventative maintenance.
Participate in Special Projects and Investigative research.
Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in preparing work orders, safe work permits and follow up on work being observed. Also, ensures permits are returned from assigned area and signed off as complete or in complete.
Conduct safety audits with specific area/areas to ensure all safety equipment in the laboratory are functional.
Respond promptly to plant emergencies including firefighting to prevent injury to personnel or damage to equipment and emissions.
Report for duty punctually, take over and hand over shift in a comprehensive manner in area designated for duty.
Assist in performing surveys, monitors laboratory operating parameters and makes the necessary changes if the need occurs.
What you will bring:
BSc in Industrial Chemistry /or Chemistry or Biochemistry required.
Certified Quality Technician (ASQ) would be an asset.
Previous Lab experience is required, with at least 7 years’ experience at a petrochemical, oil/gas, or utility facility.
Seven (7) years’ experience in an Analytical Laboratory specializing in Ammonia/Urea Operations or Water Treatment, Steam Generation and understanding of process chemistry and applications, would be an asset.
Ability to operate and maintain advanced analytical equipment and instrumentation.
Knowledge of modern and complex principles and practices of qualitative and quantitative analysis, organic and inorganic physical chemistry.
Working knowledge about laboratory safety, process safety, personal safety, and chemical waste disposal.
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
Strong organizational skills.
Exceptional cognitive skills and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail as required for learning specific procedures and equipment operation.
A passion for continuous improvement.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Goal oriented, self-motivated and able to work in a self-guided manner.
Hours of Work:
Work schedule is shift based and includes weekends and nights.
