Management of spare parts in a manufacturing environment

Purpose of the Job

The Spare Parts Stores Manager is responsible for leading the Stores Unit to ensure the efficient management and availability of spare parts required for plant operations. The role focuses on maximizing operational efficiency, maintaining accurate inventory, and delivering high levels of internal customer satisfaction. The Manager will supervise, organize, and develop Stores personnel, establish and monitor performance targets, and ensure that all activities align with the company's operational standards and strategic goals

 Key Objectives:

  • Develop effective operations systems by determining product storage and handling requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, inbound processes, and shipping
  • Train & manage the Stores team to solve day-to-day operational problems and achieve performance goals
  • Supervise daily operations, while controlling & managing inventory and logistics.
  • Review & prepare workflow, manning & space requirements, equipment design & action plans, while ensuring accuracy, productivity, quality & customer service standards are met.
  • Maintain a safe & healthy work environment by establishing, adhering & enforcing standards & procedures & complying with regulations.
  • Recognition to the Operations team for consistent procurement of parts, materials & consumables to reduce rush orders, poor logistics, unnecessary escalations to suppliers, poor communications & delays in procurement.

 Requirements:

  • At least an Engineering Degree in Production, Industrial, Maintenance, Electrical or Mechanical Or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training
  • At least 5 years at a Supervisory/Coordinator Level in one or several of the following areas: Line Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, etc.        
  • Thorough knowledge of MRO Stores, understanding of stock management and reordering, warehouse control of inventory.
  • Competence in Process Design & Execution, Cost & Budgeting, People Management, Cost Budgeting
  • Strong Communication Skills, Visioning & Alignment, Planning & Judgement
