Margaritaville Grand Turk is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This is a hands-on leadership role in a high-volume, guest-focused environment, perfect for a professional who values consistency, teamwork, and excellence.


Primary Function

The Sous Chef supports the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, directly supervising and training Range Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Stewards. This role ensures food is prepared and served to the highest standards of quality, flavor, and food safety, while controlling costs and maintaining guest satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and support kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Enforce all standard operating procedures, health, and food safety policies (including HACCP).

  • Manage kitchen inventory: receiving goods, tracking transfers, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Monitor kitchen supplies to ensure availability and cost efficiency.

  • Oversee daily specials and non-menu items, balancing creativity with cost control.

  • Maintain the highest standards of taste, presentation, and timely service for all dishes.

  • Work alongside the Head Chef on menu development, cost management, and overall kitchen leadership.


What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong senior kitchen leader in a high-volume environment.

  • Strong leadership, organization, and training skills.

  • A collaborative mindset—this role requires a professional who leads by example and respects the team.

  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and cost control.

  • Calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.


Physical Requirements

As a Sous Chef, you must be able to:

  • Bend, kneel, stoop, and reach as required by kitchen duties.

  • Stand and move quickly in a confined, high-paced environment for extended periods (up to 8+ hours).

  • Work in conditions exceeding standard room temperature for extended periods.

  • Perform duties requiring speed, efficiency, and strong organizational skills.

  • Safely handle knives and other kitchen tools.

  • Lift, push, pull, or carry items such as boxes, cases, equipment, and bins (up to 50 lbs).

  • Speak clearly and listen attentively to team members and supervisors, even in loud conditions.
