The Settlement Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding company revenue by accurately verifying and processing daily financial transactions.

Job Summary

The Settlement Officer is responsible for safeguarding company revenue by accurately verifying, recording and reconciling daily financial transactions. The incumbent is also responsible for identifying and reporting discrepancies, errors or potential fraud, while ensuring all incoming payments are complete, accurate and properly documented. The individual will operate within a warehousing environment and collaborate closely with relevant departments to resolve issues in a timely manner whilst delivering high standards of customer service.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Audit and review daily sales transactions, verify entries to balance stock and ensure accuracy in posting of all transactions into the Accounting software.
  • Complete data entry and adjustments related to payments and updating of customer accounts.
  • Receive, verify and deposit all payments and adhere to cashing activities security protocols.
  • Work closely with internal departments and external contractors to resolve discrepancies and queries with professionalism and urgency.
  • Maintain filing of documents and support routine reporting for department stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 CXC passes inclusive of Mathematics & English.
  • A minimum of one (1) year’s experience in cash handling, settlement, administrative support or customer account reconciliation
  • Experience in a retail industry/cash management and collections environment would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software like Microsoft Great Plains would be considered an asset.
  • Strong integrity and honesty.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and weekends.
