Senior Securities Officer

SENIOR SECURITIES OFFICER

                                                                                             

Purpose of Position         

To job holder will be supporting the lending function of the bank by performing duties in the areas of Trade Credit facilitation, Corporate, Business, and Mortgage Financing and complete disbursements in accordance with the Bank’s policy and credit approvals.

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all security documents that are required to support facilities granted to Corporate, Business customers and mortgages.
  • Complete Business, Corporate and Mortgage loan processes from approval to disbursement.
  • Approval of loans booked, amendments, liens and releases on a daily basis and ensuring data imputed into the systems accords with the terms of the facilities.
  • Ensure that all salary deductions that are to be effected by GraceKennedy are dispatched for processing.
  • Prepare IFRS Provisioning report and any other report that may be required from time to time.
  • Ensure that all security and loan documents required in accordance with credit approvals are received prior to disbursement of loans.
  • Primarily responsible for documentation relating to the branch’s Letters of Credit and Trade Credit business and act as a resource person in handling these transactions and training relevant staff.
  • Assist with registration and custody of securities.
  • Ensure that fees are collected promptly from clients prior to the issuing of letter of Undertaking or disbursement of loan proceeds.

 

At all times ensure that:

  •  Loan and security documents are duly completed and executed, if necessary supervise the execution by clients.
  • Collateral Securities are issued for the full value of the bank’s exposure and free of liens.
  • Ensure that notices of liens are dispatched as required.
  • Ensure that searches are conducted at relevant local Government offices to determine the authenticity of items pledged as security and follow information obtained.
  • Credit checks are conducted on prospective clients
  • Liaise with Relationship Managers and Business Development Officers on matters relating to discrepancies/irregularities to relevant securities.
  • Assist the Securities Unit head with the overall management of the Unit
  • Liaise with Attorneys, other financial Institutions, Government Agencies, Relationship Managers and Business Banking Executives and Business Development Officers and   Reply and/or initiate correspondence relating to matters in areas of responsibility.

 

Required Qualification, Experience and Key Competencies

The successful candidate should have:

  • Working knowledge of the relevant legislation that impact the administration of Securities
  • Experience/knowledge of security documentation and requirements for registering and perfecting securities
  • Experience and knowledge in the areas of Letters of Credit and Trade Finance will be especially important
  • First Degree in Management Studies, Finance, Banking, Economics or FICB or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Security Documentation to include preparation of mortgage and corporate documents
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and staff
  • Ability to understand, interpret and carry out bank procedures and detailed instructions
  • Specialized working knowledge of department procedures and ability to interpret and adapt to change
  • Demonstrated  ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
