Job Summary
The incumbent will lead the quality assurance activities for system enhancements with high technical complexities and may be required to oversee the work of Quality Analysts to ensure compliance and accuracy. The Senior Analyst is required to plan and co-ordinate the testing activities to ensure the quality and functionality of the Company’s products and business systems. He/she is expected to operate independently and/or with limited supervision to trend and identify system weaknesses via inputs and outputs, evaluate business requirements, execute test cases, manage defects and provide implementation support. This role will collaborate with internal stakeholders on various projects in support of the Company’s goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities
1. System enhancements and new functionality (Moderate to High complexity)

  • Requirements Validation - Review and validate system requirements, define test criteria and risk mitigation strategies
  • Demand Evaluation - Research feasibility of system changes and provide time estimates for testing resources
  • System Modelling - Build wireframes/mock-ups based on technical specifications and user stories
  • Development Analysis - Collaborate with development teams to review code and identify functional issues/risks
  • Configuration and Testing (TEST) - Co-ordinate the extraction of test data and administer system files required for testing
  • Execute functional, regression, performance, and security testing as the final checkpoint for release readiness
  • Post Review/Implementation (PRODUCTION) - Provide training and/or system specifications in support of implementation activities
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and manage defects through the established change management process


2. Lead new products development (Moderate to High Complexity)

  • •Execute Product Specification - Review actuarial report to develop administrative system for new/amended products.
  • Contribute and provide support to the product rationalization process.
  • Configuration and Testing (TEST)
  • Develop test plans, execute and/or co-ordinate the testing activities and document test results to validate that the outcomes meet business requirements
  • Post Review/Implementation (PRODUCTION)
  • Provision applicable product information and conduct post-implementation reviews


3. Develop reporting solutions to provide operational efficiencies

  • Develop innovate ways to automate tasks using SQL scripts or any other reporting tool
  • Produce exception reports to monitor and validate production data against expected outcomes
  • Generate recurrent and other scheduled reports for various stakeholders
  • Support requests for data extracts and provide data mapping related to the target systems


4. Error Handling and Query Management (Tier II)

  • Troubleshoots and responds to escalations related to data and functionality issues within the administration systems
  • Support quality reviews/process audits of business units to identify system weaknesses and recommend modifications and/or opportunities for user training
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and provide analyst support to identify problem/s, determine root cause/s, evaluate prospects and implement suitable solutions.
  • Conduct simulation testing to investigate and resolve reported data issues or functional issues
  • Maintains/enhances technology expertise, keeping current with evolving testing methodologies, system analysis and database technology
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned


Job Requirements
•Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent
•Five (5) years’ experience in software testing (certification is preferred)
•Five (5) years’ experience in business/data analysis (certification is a plus)
•LOMA FLMI, ALMI or ACS or equivalent Insurance related certification is an asset
•Experience in the financial / insurance industry
