Senior Process Engineer

Position Summary

The Engineer III, Process is responsible for the design and execution of plant improvement initiatives. This role involves evaluating and monitoring plant systems and equipment to enhance performance, efficiency, and reliability. The Engineer III also provides technical leadership and collaborates closely with Technical, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe and effective plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant processes, utilities, and catalyst performance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving plant efficiency, production output, and reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and optimization of plant systems and equipment.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Technical and Operations departments.
  • Design and manage plant improvement projects, including engineering calculations, hazard analyses, and post-implementation monitoring.
  • Lead and participate in risk assessments in alignment with the organization’s risk management framework.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) initiatives through engineering studies, cost estimates, PFD and P&ID development, equipment specifications, vendor/contractor evaluations, and commissioning/start-up activities.
  • Provide process engineering support during Turnarounds, including catalyst changeouts and chemical cleaning.
  • Assist with non-routine operations such as plant start-ups and shutdowns.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and lead investigations into plant performance issues.
  • Develop procedures for specialized plant testing and monitoring.
  • Contribute technical input to the development and refinement of operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering

Experience

  • 6 to 9 years of experience in process engineering within a plant or industrial setting
  • Strong understanding of piping systems and process plant equipment

Additional Skills

  • Supervisory experience or exposure
  • Project management capabilities
  • Experience in water treatment processes
  • Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS modeling
  • Familiarity with industry-standard engineering codes and practices
  • Knowledge of process hazard analysis methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA)
