The Senior Planning Officer is a critical role that underpins the Ministry of Education's ability to effectively plan, implement, monitor and evaluate key initiatives in the Education Sector.

ADVERTISEMENT TO FILL THE OFFICE OF SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER – DIVISION OF PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH – MINISTRY OF EDUCATION - GRENADA

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons from WITHIN and OUTSIDE the Public Service to fill the office of Senior Planning Officer, Division of Planning, Development and Research, Ministry of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT

Applicants should possess a Master’s in Management, Statistics, Education or other relevant field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT

At least five (5) years’ experience at the middle management level;

Experience in conducting research and working in a research driven environment.

 KEY DUTIES

Monitor the implementation of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan, Corporate Plan and Programmes and Projects to                    ensure that activities and outcomes are in keeping with the Ministry’s goals/objectives/targets;

Collaborate with other senior officers and stakeholders to formulate and implement plans, programmes, projects,            policies and procedures resulting from findings of data collection to guide the strategic direction of the Education              Sector and other Ministerial Portfolio;

Oversee the conduct of research and retrieval of information from appropriate sources (including the internet and            online databases)  to address expectations and deficiencies associated with the Ministry’s mission and National                Education  Programme (NEP);

Prepare Cabinet documents (Ministerial Statements, Cabinet Mentions, Briefing Notes etc.) and complete                        questionnaires and other documents as requested, in keeping with the performance of administrative functions                consistent with the position;

Lead and manage divisional staff to facilitate their engagement in practices that are sustainable, compliant with              attendant policies and in harmony with the Ministry and Divisional mandates;

Oversee the administration of schools and other education institutions in a proper and efficient manner, in                        keeping  with existing legislations, policies, principles, and procedures;

Review existing legislations, policies, principles and practices that are used to regulate and manage education at              all levels, in order to determine relevance, effectiveness, compliance and recommendations for change;

Provide technical direction to the Ministry of Education on Education matters, in keeping with sound educational              practices and national education priorities;

Initiate curriculum innovation and reform, and establish appropriate procedures for evaluating existing                            frameworks to ensure that prerequisites are met in accordance with regional/international education and learning            standards.

SALARY

The salary payable to the office is at the rate of $66,184.00 per annum in Grade (J), by incremental points to $86,378.00 per annum.
