Senior Networking Specialist

To develop and maintain functional and secure networks that cater to the organization’s needs. Mentor team to be able to troubleshoot and optimize our networks for end users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
• Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
• Monitor network performance and integrity
• Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
• Mentor team members on technical issues
• Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
• Communicate with users when needed
• Maintain complete technical documentation
• Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
• Maintains data, voice or video network hardware and systems
• Provides technical support on data, voice or video networks for internal and/or external customers
• Performs data or voice network configurations and configuration changes of various voice or data equipment such as routers, switches, intelligent hubs, multi-function switches, end offices, signaling transfer points, PBX, voice mail, call management systems, to enhance performance
• Deployment of complex network projects and manage the operation of these networks
• Manage the Implementation of network solutions
• Knowledge of Non Cisco solutions (Loadbalancers - Checkpoint, Citrix, Juniper, etc.)
• Knowledge of ICT Security Solutions (Firewalls, VPN, IPSec, SSL, IPS/IDS, proxy servers, etc. )
• Plan, design, maintain, and implement network access, ICT security, and services
• Performing system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, and other platform specifications
• Directing compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance
• Performing a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment
• Supporting quality assurance reviews and the evaluation of new and existing software products
• Providing assistance and oversight for all computer/ information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

The applicant should possess:-

• Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Senior Network Administrator 
• Professional certifications (e.g. CCNP, CCDP, etc.)
• Solid background in network administration and architecture
• In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
• Familiarity with access control models and network security
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
• Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS, etc.)
• Sharp troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently
• Organizational and mentoring skills
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field and 5 years experience in a similar role in a medium to large organization OR
• Requisite Networking Qualifications and 10years experience in a similar role in a medium to large organization.
