Senior Manager – Finance and Accounting  

A progressive and member-focused Credit Union is seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Senior Manager – Finance & Accounting.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Finance and Accounting Department, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, asset protection, and sound financial management practices.

CORE FUNCTIONS: 

  • Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the Credit Union’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead and manage the Finance and Accounting Department to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, statutory, accounting, and taxation requirements.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance monitoring processes.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, investments, and capital adequacy to support organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and facilitate timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Monitor financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance staff to foster a high-performance culture. 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting or other post graduate degree in a related discipline from a recognized university or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Professional accounting designation such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience within the financial services sector, preferably a credit union, commercial bank, or other regulated financial institution, would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial management, budgeting, treasury management, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent knowledge of risk management
