Senior Lifting Inspector/Engineer

 

Role Overview

The Senior Lifting Engineer / Appointed Person is responsible for planning, supervising, inspecting, and certifying lifting operations and lifting equipment in accordance with local and international standards. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for onshore and offshore lifting activities while ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and approve lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Conduct examinations and testing of cranes, hoists, lifts, lifting accessories, and material handling equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOLER, PUWER, API, ASME, DNV, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision for lifting operations.
  • Prepare inspection reports, certificates, and technical documentation.
  • Support equipment integrity, maintenance planning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and competency development of lifting personnel.
  • Liaise with clients and regulatory bodies on lifting-related matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in lifting operations, inspection, or lifting engineering.
  • Government License to Examine Hoists and Lifts.
  • LEEA qualifications and/or Appointed Person for Lifting Operations certification.
  • API RP 2D, Offshore Crane Inspection, or equivalent certifications preferred.
  • NDT Level II (MPI) certification is an asset.
  • Experience in the marine, oil & gas, energy, or construction sectors.

Reporting Line
