The Financial Services Commission (FSC) is an integrated Financial Services regulator. Our mission is to regulate and supervise the Securities, Insurance and Private Pensions and Trust and Corporate Services providers for the protection of their users, thereby enhancing public confidence through the efforts of a competent workforce.

The FSC has an immediate opening for the position of Senior Internal Auditor.

Position Summary:

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for the independent review and assessment of the effectiveness and quality of the policies and procedures within the Financial Services Commission (FSC). They design and execute audit programs to assess key risks (e.g. operational, strategic, financial), facing the FSC. The role also identifies operating inefficiencies and compliance gaps that could affect the organization's performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit Planning and Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive audit plans, including risk assessments and audit programs.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify key risk areas and recommend control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Internal Controls Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, financial systems, and business processes.
  • Compliance Review: Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze financial data, operational records, and control systems to detect discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Audit Reporting: Prepare clear and concise audit reports, summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Follow-Up Audits: Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and assess corrective actions.
  • Fraud Detection and Prevention: Identify potential areas of fraud and develop strategies to prevent fraudulent activities.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with management, external auditors, and other stakeholders to discuss findings and corrective actions.
  • Policy and Procedure Review: Evaluate existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance and recommend updates as needed.
  • Conduct or identify existing research to inform and provide policy, planning and advice.

Candidates must possess the required education and experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in Accounting, Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), ACCA or CPA.
  • The job requires at least 4 years’ experience in internal or external audit within financial services or regulatory environment such as: securities, insurance or pension regulatory body.
  • Strong knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Good understanding of accounting and auditing principles.
