Our client is the largest general insurance provider in Barbados, writing business in all areas of general insurance including, Property, Liability, Accident, Motor, Marine, Aviation and Transit Insurance.

Overview: Our client is the largest general insurance provider in Barbados, writing business in all areas of general insurance including, Property, Liability, Accident, Motor, Marine, Aviation and Transit Insurance. They also offer insurance coverage for Individual and Group Life, Individual and Group Health, Annuities, Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs) and Individual and Group Pensions. Due to sustained growth, they are seeking to recruit a skilled professional to add to the technical team.

 

Duties & R​esponsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and day-to-day supervision of ICT System Administrators, ensuring effective execution of tasks and proper hardware lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate and implement infrastructure policies, procedures, and system operations across hybrid IT environments (on-premises and cloud).
  • Develop and execute hardware and network switch configuration plans, including strategic planning for infrastructure upgrades and refresh cycles.
  • Deploy, administer, and maintain infrastructure solutions within on-premises (VMware) and cloud (Azure) platforms in accordance with approved architectural standards.
  • Manage and maintain Corporate Directory Services (Active Directory / Entra ID), ensuring system health, synchronization, access control, and schema integrity.
  • Configure and administer firewalls and 802.1x Network Access Control, while supporting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) solutions in alignment with information security standards.
  • Identify and remediate technical vulnerabilities and security gaps highlighted through cybersecurity assessments and audits.
  • Monitor network and system performance using enterprise monitoring tools to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal operational efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including topology diagrams, automation scripts, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate technical connectivity with external service providers (e.g., fibre and SIP trunking vendors) and monitor adherence to agreed service levels.
  • Implement, test, and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for network and server infrastructure.
  • Deliver Tier 2/3 backend support for core business systems and perform SQL Server administration tasks.
  • Perform additional related technical duties as required to support operational effectiveness and continuous improvement.

 

Requirements:

  •  A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in CCNP and/or MCSE (or equivalent Azure Administrator certification).
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a complex network environment, with at least two (2) years at a supervisory level.
  • Strong technical experience in the configuration and administration of hybrid switching, routing, and enterprise firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of the administration and management of Directory Services (Active Directory/Entra ID).
  • Strong knowledge of the execution of backup and recovery methods and VMWare/Azure administration.
  • Strong knowledge of technical security implementation and endpoint protection tools.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server technical administration and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and routing issues.
  • Results-driven with the ability to deliver critical technical projects on schedule.
  • Effective communicator and team player, able to collaborate with Information Security on compliance and standards.
  • Well-organized and capable of working independently on system administration and maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledgeable in modern infrastructure technologies, including cloud administration, virtualization, and system hardening.
