Role Purpose

To Market FX products to assigned geographic target markets by developing an in- depth understanding of client FX needs in order to achieve objectives. Solicit and Manage valued customers through effective relationship management practices. To be responsible for the stock trades and deposit taking activities.

Duties and Responsibilities Summary

  • Ensure that all daily settlements with MasterCard are processed in a timely and efficient manner as well as FX transactions.
  • Attain profitability targets in foreign exchange trading using spot and forward transactions.
  • Source currency supplies in keeping with the company’s policies, procedures & strategies.
  • Be the main point of contact for all FX transactions for the company.
  • Liaise with back office staff to ensure that clients receive high quality service consistently.
  • Maintain a constant presence in the FX market and keep abreast of trends and developments that may impact the company's FX position and operations.
  • Satisfy clients' needs through superior customer service and competitive pricing in all traded currencies.
  • Cover positions in traded currencies: USD, Sterling, Euro, CAD, YEN.
  • Develop long-term and profitable client relationships by pro-actively determining and satisfying the needs of current and prospective clients. This includes site visits, meetings, entertaining, telephone calls, explanation/presentation of new and existing products.
  • Ensure that the integrity of all data entered in the FX trading software and liaise with the Finance manager or software provider to report any issues where necessary.
  • Conduct testing and provide feedback for the FX trading platform.
  • Conduct staff training re: FX trading platform, CBB circulars.
  • Responsible for placing transactions on the Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE).
  • Oversee the settlement the BSE and Card Services transactions.
  • Manage the term deposits function.
  • Ensure all FX related regulatory reports are completed in a timely manner.
  • Supervise assigned officers and staff.
  • Conduct foreign currency trading transactions prudently including negotiation of rates, matching purchases and sales and managing the spread gap between purchase and sale price.
  • Determine and post daily foreign exchange rates. (Internally and for associated companies)
  • Pre-qualify and maintain KYC documentation per the AML/CFT Guidelines issued by CBB for all counterparties.
  • Closely monitor correspondent bank accounts and Central Bank Settlement Accounts.
  • Maintain databases used to inform management reports; Prepare and submit management reports as required.
  • Maximize the use of technology, maintain data integrity and document all relevant client sales and service contacts and results.
  • Act as industry / market representative for selected segments if applicable, ensuring knowledge, skills and activities are aligned to the market / industry.
  • Any other duties ancillary or related to the foregoing.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting or training in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in FX trading.
  • Knowledge of the Barbados FX environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Central Bank FX Guidelines.
  • Relationship Management, sales management and planning along with strong knowledge of financial industry and business banking.
  • Dynamic/Flexible/prepared to function outside normal business hours.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills, listening abilities and a team builder.
  • Target focused, self-motivated and driven.
  • Creative problem solver.
