Supervises and supports team working on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment (both electrical and mechanical systems). Ensures that all necessary Health and Safety, finance and planning elements are managed and maintained to ensure operational efficiency and contractual compliance.

3.   RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains a professional manner and high level of customer service at all times.
  2. Ensures estate staff have designated assignments and manages in work distribution based on priority and internal activity within the hospital.
  3. Performs work as required to facilitate smooth running of department including activities which are non-routine (i.e. response to Disaster and Emergency, Health and Safety Responsibilities, Project works, and tasks as part of Senior FM team).
  4. Responsible for the performance management of Departmental staff as required by the performance management system and company Policy and Procedures
  5. Implements Permit to Work Scheme and supervises contractors through effective planning, scheduling and whilst working in premesis.
  6. Monitors BMS and instigates investigations to any alarms which have been highlighted.
  7. H&S,reports on Incidents and near misses in accordance with TCI Incident Reports Procedures.
  8. Ensure teams undertakes maintenance, repairs minor improvement and capital work across the TCI Hospitals as directed by facilities management, ensuring compliance with TCI safety standards and procedures.
  9. Identifies work place risk and communicates to Line Manager including outlining business impact, rectification plan and associated resource requirements (labour, parts, finance).
  10. Co-ordinates fire alarm testing on an ongoing basis.
  11. Maintains good housekeeping within engineering workshops.
  12. Develops maintenance schedules ensuring all are completed with in the time frame, any deviances are reported via the FM helpdesk.
  13. Ensures team undertakes planned preventative maintenance inspections and defect dockets in accordance with TCI procedures.
  14. Complete all report sheets, financial summaries, quality reports, KPI documents and test certificates as necessary.
  15. Ensures that team store areas, workshops and grounds are kept tidy and records area secure. 
  16. Uses and maintains equipment, tools, capital at all times in a professional and safe manner as per TCI health and safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.
  1. Notifies facilities management immediately in event of any deviation from regulations or any electrical or technical fault.
  2. Ensures any vendors/visitors to site areas are recorded and appropriate safety procedures followed.
  3. Maintains confidentiality of all information and material received or communicated at TCI Hospitals.
  4. Actively develops positive working culture within department
  5. Actively seeks to develop and mentor team
  6. Develops effective strateqies to develop excellent communication across team and to departmental representatives
  7. Attends all inservices and participates in continuing professional development opportunities.
  8. Performs other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her scope and ability.

4.   DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

Routine operational requirements and spend within company policy and procedure and customer and practice.  Must seek approval for any items changing process or incurring cost.

5.   KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Facilities Management Head of Department, Section staff, all TCI Hospitals staff

Vendors, external contractors

6.    KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR JOB

Education

Qualifications

Training

Required

  • High School Graduate.
  • Engineering Bachelors Degree in areas under control (Minimum mechanical and electrical) minimum.
  • Health & Safety Qualification NEBOSH preferred.  IOSH as minimum
  • Qualification in Medical Gas Safety.
  • Supervisor Qualification i.e. NEBS as a minimum
  • IT literacy
  • Demonstration of desire to update and maintain skills and technological advances

 

Experience

  • At least 5 years previous experience in similar working environment with responsibility for 5+ employees

  • Knowledge of engineering practice

  • Ability to assess risk, communicate and establish plans to mitigate
