Senior Economist, Monetary Modelling and Analytics Unit,
Research Statistics and Data Analytics Department
Suitably qualified citizens of member territories of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) are invited to apply to fill the post of Senior Economist (P9) Monetary Modelling and Analytics Unit, Research Statistics and Data Analytics Department (RSDAD), Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), headquartered in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis. The successful candidate will be based in St Kitts and will be hired initially on a two (2) year contractual engagement with the opportunity to renew or transfer to the permanent establishment based on performance.

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative discipline. PhD preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in macroeconomic research, monetary policy analysis, or economic modelling, ideally within a central bank, ministry of finance, international organisation, or comparable institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in macroeconomic forecasting and at least two of the following: DSGE modelling, structural/reduced-form VARs, panel data econometrics, or time-series analysis.
- Strong proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, R, MATLAB, Julia, Stata, or EViews for economic modelling and data analysis.
- Track record of published research or policy papers in macroeconomics, monetary economics, or related fields.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distil complex analytical findings into clear, actionable policy recommendations.
DUTIES:
The successful candidate will be directly responsible to the Director RSDAD and Deputy Director Monetary Modelling and Analytics Unit, RSDAD, for the proper performance of his/her duties, which will include:
- Monetary Policy Analysis
- To support Monetary Council decision making by contributing to the Bank’s Monetary Policy Reports and flagship publications by;
- Conducting in-depth analysis of domestic and international macroeconomic developments including but not limited to economic growth, exchange rate dynamics, financial sector developments and other global economic trends;
- Preparing high quality briefing papers, policy notes and presentations for Management/Board review.
- Economic Policy & Research
- To further the Bank’s research agenda and contribute to the Bank’s intellectual leadership by:
- Providing analytical support and policy advise on monetary policy, fiscal policy coordination, structural reform assessment and economic policy design;
- Authoring, leading and/or contributing on internal research projects, working papers and research publications for internal and external publication;
- Engaging with external stakeholders
- Macroeconomic Modelling and Data Science
- To design, develop and maintain macroeconomic forecasting models and databases by:
- Utilizing forecasting models including DSGE, SVAR, BVAR and semi structural models for policy simulation and scenario analysis;
- Leveraging alternative and high frequency databases to enhance economic surveillance and early warning systems
- Implementing reproducible research workflows and version controlled databases
- Explore the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text analytics to central bank communications, market sentiment analysis and policy document analysis
4. Leadership and Collaboration

- Represent the Bank at domestic and international engagements
SALARY
This position will be offered at a Grade 9 level. Further information will be provided to candidates arriving at the Interview Stage only.
