The Senior Corporate Communications Officer role supports the Proman communication programme by developing and/or administering overarching strategies and tactics for effective communications, and ensuring they are executed effectively.

Job Summary

The Senior Corporate Communications Officer role supports the Proman communication programme by developing and/or administering overarching strategies and tactics for effective communications, and ensuring they are executed effectively. The scope of the role incorporates: internal communication, media relations, CSR activities, corporate marketing and events, and stakeholder management including governmental and other key stakeholders. This position interacts regularly with all levels of the company and can be called upon to provide advice and/or communications-related services as needed.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:                                              

Strategic Communications

  •  Drives and supports the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies, tactics and deliverables.
  • Seeks and maximises opportunities for positive public relations and company positioning for Proman and for the Proman Foundation.
  • Supports the implementation of the Group communication plan for roll-out of the local branding projects, ensuring consistency across all communication platforms thereby increasing brand awareness and recognition among both internal and external stakeholders.

Media Relations

  • Leads and coordinates the production of any print and audio-visual communications materials, including, but not limited to internal corporate releases, press releases, advertising, and branded events materials.
  • Identifies media engagement opportunities and provides media coaching to staff that may interact with the press.
  • Prepares briefs, media releases, advertisements, presentations and drafts or reviews speeches to be delivered by senior personnel in the organisation.
  • Maintains the T&T event calendar, recommending to the Communications Manager key events and corporate sponsorship opportunities which are strategically aligned to the organisation’s business.
  • Supports the development and delivery of material/collateral for communicating the organisation’s key messaging.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Works closely with various stakeholders to drive internal and external communications around company-wide initiatives and sustain professional relationships that support Proman’s strategic goals.
  • Works with the Communications Manager to prioritise stakeholder engagement activities and liaises with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to execute the strategy.
  • Maintains an up-to-date stakeholder management matrix, which includes tracking engagement activities and adjusting as required.
  • Ensures Proman has representatives in key business Chambers in T&T, utilizing their activities (meetings, conferences etc.) to promote Proman’s business objectives and enhance brand reputation.
  • Supervises and provides advice and guidance to staff engaged in the performance of protocol duties in accordance with established standards to ensure appropriate etiquette is used in interactions with local and foreign dignitaries and officials.
  • Ensures the communications policy considerations are adequately integrated into the operations of the business.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external parties for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.

General Activities

  • Maintains communication calendars and/or budgets for all critical communications campaigns.
  • Provides end-to-end oversight of assigned external and internal communications campaigns, projects and deliverables, including executing communications strategy, writing/editing content, overseeing design and print production, acquiring stakeholder approvals as needed as well as distribution.
  • Participates in, plans, coordinates or assists with company events, conferences, tours and events, public consultations and similar special events.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years' experience in the communications field.
  • At least three (3) years in a multinational organisation and/or working directly with governmental agencies and stakeholders.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of current theories and practices in communications research, planning and strategy and the role of mass media.
  • Knowledgeable of and demonstrates a clear understanding of media issues, social marketing theory and practice, communications strategies and implementation and behavioural sciences.
  • Good command of marketing, public relations, advertising, promotion and other communications methods.
  • Articulate and professional, with excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present complex ideas with clarity, diplomacy and precision.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, web design and communications technologies such as web applications, illustration software and/or databases.
