Senior Controls Engineer

The Senior Controls Engineer will manage the ongoing development and improvement of the company's SCADA, Generation Control, Substation Control, and Distribution Control systems and associated facilities and systems to meet load growth, improve system reliability and efficiency.

CUC is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to manage the ongoing development and improvement of the company's SCADA, Generation Control, Substation Control, and Distribution Control systems and associated facilities and systems to meet load growth, improve system reliability and efficiency, and enhance system operational flexibility.

CUC is going through an exciting time in the development of Grand Cayman’s power system with many new technologies coming on stream such as utility scale batteries, behind the meter batteries, distributed generation from roof top devices to large scale solar plant, smart customer devices, demand response, distribution automation, and electric vehicles. The Senior Controls Engineer will navigate us through the continued development of our control systems to manage these technologies effectively and efficiently.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

-      Providing technical leadership across the company in the Control Systems area and be responsible for engineering new communications and data systems.

-      Provision of occasional internal training for control technicians and other electrical personnel.

-      The coordination of the implementation of controls improvements through the development of strategy, business cases, scopes of work, engineering design specifications, tender and bid documents, contracts and detailed engineering design.

-      Reviewing of maintenance systems for the SCADA System and Control Room operational functions and facilities and assist operational staff where necessary with troubleshooting control systems, including PLCs, RTUs, and IT hardware and software

Requirements:

Applicants should possess:

-      Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.

-      Professional Engineer Designation.

-      A minimum of ten (10) years related power utility engineering experience.

-      Project Management Certification from PMI or equivalent.

Salary:

-      Salary is from US$7,069 to US$10,604 per month.
