Senior Auditor

To lead and independently plan and execute a range of operational, financial, compliance and special audits, and investigations. The Senior Internal auditor provides support to the Head Internal Auditor towards achieving strategic goals and objectives of the department.

JOB SUMMARY

To lead and independently plan and execute a range of operational, financial, compliance and special audits, and investigations. The Senior Internal auditor provides support to the Head Internal Auditor towards achieving strategic goals and objectives of the department. Provide oversight of the Internal Auditor for follow-through on audit recommendations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Management, Finance, Engineering, and/or Information Technology (IT) from a recognised institution
• Must have at least one of the Professional Qualifications listed below:

(CIA, CFE, ISACA, CRMA, PMP or CPA.)

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience as a lead auditor in an internal audit environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting Boards in a regulated or public sector environment.
• A combination of experiences in the Energy and Financial sectors would be an asset.
• A combination of experiences in the Energy and IT environment would be an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead in the planning and execution of audit engagements and investigations in accordance with documented guidelines and standards.
• Prepare the audit work plan including working papers, process flows, and other supporting documents necessary for the execution of assigned audits.
• Ensure audit reports are comprehensively completed within established timelines.
• Ensure adequate supervision and coaching is provided when leading audit engagements.
• Ensure audit findings and recommendations are accurately and timely documented and communicated in accordance with the approved standards using the applicable audit software.
• Monitor, track and conduct follow-up reviews on action taken by management to resolve audit recommendations.
• Perform analytical reviews.
• Provide input in the development of the overall risk-based audit plan.
• Support the Head Internal Auditor in the completion of packages to the Audit and Risk Committee as well as the Board.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Head of Internal Audit.
