Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled, self-driven Senior Attorney-at-Law with a minimum of five (5) years' experience as an Instructing Attorney in Civil Litigation to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of independently managing a wide portfolio of matters within a fast-paced legal environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal client interaction and strategic advice in a wide range of civil litigation, Family Law, Immigration and Estate  matters.
  • Act as Instructing Attorney and collaborate with Advocate/Counsel in the preparation and management of court cases.
  • Prepare comprehensive and persuasive Closing SubmissionsSkeleton Arguments, and Supporting Affidavits for Counsel’s review and settlement.
  • Draft, file, and serve all relevant litigation documents including:

ApplicationsAffidavits (with Exhibits)Cases and AuthoritiesLists of DocumentsBundles of Documents and all other such steps as are required by the CPR.

Management of Court of Appeal files and preparation of Court of Appeal documentation, including Records of AppealApplications for Stay of Execution, and other Appellate filings.

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and opinion writing including Opinions as to Quantum, with a high degree of accuracy and independence.
  • Maintain a thorough, up-to-date working knowledge of the Civil Proceedings Rules (CPR) and Family Proceedings Rules (FPR).
  • Ensure procedural compliance and court deadlines are met with minimal supervision and maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage a diverse caseload as Instructing Attorney, monitor case progress, and proactively identify and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Engage in regular file review and quality assurance to ensure the integrity, accuracy and reliability of all client documents and court filings.
  • Provide mentorship or support to junior staff, as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and Legal Education Certificate (L.E.C.) from a recognized institution. For exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates, the LPC may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience as an Instructing Attorney in civil litigation, including active courtroom and file management experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in legal drafting and opinion writing.
  • Strong knowledge of the CPR and FPR, with practical experience in court procedures at all levels.
  • Familiarity with appellate procedures and document preparation for the Court of Appeal.

  • Highly ethical with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask across multiple matters and deadlines.

Preferred/Additional Assets (Optional but Advantageous):

  • Experience working with electronic case management systems or digital court filings.
  • Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
  • Experience supervising junior attorneys or legal assistants.
  • Business development mindset and client management experience.
