JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Senior Analyst is required to work collaboratively with Group Finance and the Transformation Office Team and Senior Management. The incumbent will ensure the financial impact of Group deliverables including strategic projects and initiatives is accurately forecasted, measured and tracked. This involves approval of business cases, analysing and reporting of financial data, risk mitigation and communication of beneficial or unfavourable trends which can impact the financial targets.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with Group Finance, the Group CFO and Transformation Office to ensure consistent approach to valuation of projects and initiatives
• Track and validate the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
• Highlight developing financial trends that could hinder or accelerate the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
• Work proactively with the business to resolve critical issues, anticipate potential issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Prepare financial reports, when requested, by collecting and interpreting financial data.
• Prepare analysis to forecast future monthly impacts and compare against monthly financial goals.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager and Group CFO.
EDUCATION:
• First Degree in Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution OR ACCA qualified.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• At least 3 years’ experience working in an accounting or finance environment.
• Appreciation of basic principles in finance, accounting, human resources, marketing, information technology, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
• Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, escalate issues appropriately, maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to interpret financial statements and P&L.
PERSONALITY:
The Senior Analyst – Group Finance must be meticulous, systematic and logical. He/she must be able to manage time and resources efficiently. He/she must possess the ability to perform large amounts of numerical work with speed and accuracy. The incumbent must be self-motivated and vibrant. He/ She must demonstrate the ability to use initiative and should possess the ability to work under stress. The ideal candidate must possess very good research and analytical skills coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to effectively schedule work, set quality targets and meet deadlines. He/she must be proactive, decisive and therefore must possess the ability to make effective decisions in a prompt manner.
