The Senior Accounting/Payroll Clerk will play a critical role in managing payroll processing and supporting key accounting functions.

Job Summary

The Senior Accounting/Payroll Clerk will play a critical role in managing payroll processing and supporting key accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of payroll legislation, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large and diverse workforce.
•Ensure compliance with statutory regulations including NIS, PAYE, Health Surcharge, and other mandatory deductions.
•Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including overtime, leave, and attendance.
•Assist with general accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
•Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
•Collaborate with HR to process changes in employment status (e.g., hires, terminations, promotions).
•Prepare and issue annual tax documents (e.g., TD4s).
•Provide payroll and accounting data for internal and external audits.
•Respond to employee and external queries related to payroll and financial records.
•Uphold strict confidentiality regarding employee compensation and personal information.

Qualifications and Experience

•Diploma or Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (ACCA Level 1 or 2 preferred).
•At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience in payroll and accounting.
•Solid understanding of local tax and employment laws.
•Proficiency in accounting/payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, Peachtree, or similar).
•Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data management).
