We are seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position in the Inventory Control Department:

SENIOR ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT (COSTINGS)

Job Purpose:

This role is focused on continuously maintaining system integrity by ensuring accurate recording and inventory status of products; as well as to support the ongoing process and analysis of product costing.

 Major Responsibilities & Accountabilities:  

  • Executes and updates all inventory transfer requests and stock adjustments on a daily basis as required
  • Ensures all inventory discrepancies at all locations are investigated, corrected, reconciled and recommendations are made on a daily basis, to allow for effective and efficient movement of inventory as required
  • Corrects and reconciles all inventory discrepancies when appropriate investigations have been completed by the Inventory Auditors (Warehouse)
  • Prepares monthly reports for Senior Management
  • Advises and approves creation of new item numbers
  • Monitors the outstanding warehouse transfers and stock adjustments following up for any outstanding documents
  • Authorizes Purchase Orders to be updated after ensuring that information entered on the physical costing sheets are accurate
  • Investigates and addresses queries from all internal Divisions and retail outlets, providing research, follow up and recommendations
  • Checks the aged open payables report on a weekly basis to ensure that all outstanding invoices/credit notes are current and on the forex listing for payment
  • Prepares monthly inventory variance summary reports (all locations)
  • Liaises with warehouse to ensure that receiver reports are received on a timely basis and before the month end close off
  • Updates all Non WMS location inventory count sheet into VAI and provide variance reports to the Warehouse for further investigations
  • Maintains an efficient filing system to allow for easy retrieval and processing
  • Prepares yearly landed cost factor analysis
  • Provides support for all inventory counts at WMS and Non WMS locations

 Knowledge & Experience:

  • Completed CAT/FIA/BSc and/or currently pursuing ACCA Level II or Level II CIMA or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of an Accounting software package
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Must be flexible, honest and reliable
