Job Summary

Financial accounting and measurement of Company performance; reporting of financial and operational performance to the COMPANY management team and the COMPANY Board of Directors; as a senior member of the COMPANY management team to closely monitor and control all costs (raw materials, manufacturing labour, installation costs and corporate overheads); manage human resource administration of COMPANY employees and their compensation by Lake; to administer all legal reporting and administrative matters including mandatory Government statutory reporting. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. This position involves leading the accounting team, managing treasury functions, overseeing cash flow, coordinating audits, and preparing IFRS-compliant financial packages. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory skills, a high level of integrity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS. Management of all financial accounting according to IFRS and world best practice for accounting and reporting for manufacturing companies; reporting results to the management team, Board of Directors and lenders
  • Orchestrate the creation and updating of operating and capital budgets and operational measures for all key business processes, as well as for COMPANY as a whole; monitor and report financial and operational performance relative to budgets and performance metrics; promptly report any significant deviations
  • To orchestrate strategic and operationalization planning, document plans developed by team and deliver plans as well as performance against plans to the Board of Directors
  • Develop and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts and projections. Monitor and ensure timely collection of accounts receivable; manage working capital and monitor, forecast and control cash flow, reporting cash concerns to CEO, General Manager and Board before any cash crises develop
  • To manage purchasing and inventory control employees to ensure raw material costs and inventory leakage are minimized; to ensure all raw material costs (including supplier cost, inbound shipping and local importation costs) are accurately recorded and reflected in standard cost; to measure actual costs against standard cost and quantify variances on not less than a quarterly basis
  • To measure and report on contribution margins in aggregate, by segment and by individual contracts/projects/orders; to ensure accurate and timely determination of commissions owing to sales staff
  • Control corporate overheads and make recommendations to CEO, General Manager and Board on appropriate cost reductions
  • Verify compensation payments by Lake and ensure all Lake claims for compensation by COMPANY are accurate and in line with contractual arrangements
  • To measure and control the costs and profitability of individual installations as well as installation operations in aggregate
  • To monitor profitability of delivery activities within Trinidad & Tobago
  • To monitor and control warranty & service costs and revenues; to quantify and report all warranty costs and profitability of service operations to the EVP, CEO, General Manager and the Board
  • To forecast cash flow based upon actual financial results, bookings (orders with deposits) and conservative sales projections
  • To source and control foreign currency to ensure timely payment of suppliers and ensure no delay of inbound raw materials
  • To manage and minimize tax liabilities, ensure timely tax reporting and ensure timely refunds (preferred) or offset (if refund not possible) of VAT or other taxes
  •  Assess property and financial risk; propose appropriate actions to CEO, General Manager and the Board
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors during yearly audits. Prepare and coordinate the complete audit package, providing schedules, narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely preparation of IFRS reporting packages for group consolidation.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Assign and review work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal control systems.
  • Such other responsibilities as assigned by the COMPANY CEO from time to time

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in treasury management, cash flow forecasting, and IFRS reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of audit processes and preparation of audit documentation.
  • Manufacturing industry experience is highly desirable.
