The Senior Accountant assists with the coordination of the timely and efficient preparation of the monthly management accounts, reporting templates, annual financial statements and annual budget.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.    Financial and Management Accounting
•    Prepare the monthly management accounts for GLOC.
•    Prepare and review the templates for submission to the holding company.
•    Prepare the annual financial statements for GLOC in accordance with IFRS.
•    Oversee the interim and year end audits.
•    Assist in the completion of month-end IFRS 17 processes
•    Assist with preparation of the GLOC board reports.
•    Research IFRS requirements for accounting issues.
•    Prepare the annual budgets and required forecasts for GLOC.

2.    Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.

3.    Lead, motivate, inspire, and encourage employees through effective performance management – setting of clear goals and objectives, ensuring that performance gaps are closed through relevant training, monitors work performance through continuous performance discussions and timely completion of appraisals.

4.    To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Finance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 
•    ACCA qualified
•    LOMA 280, 290, ACS 100 and all related parts
•    5 years accounting experience, of which at least three (3) years should be post qualification

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
The Senior Accountant must be driven, organized with excellent time management skills, comfortable working with minimal supervision, flexible and articulate.  He /She must possess unquestioned integrity and act in a professional manner at all times.The Senior Accountant will require specialized knowledge in the assigned area (GLOC) but is expected to have general knowledge of all areas.
