- Senior Accountant – Payroll/Payables
The Senior Accountant – Payroll and Payables is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of the Payroll and Payables Unit, ensuring that all liabilities to employees and suppliers (local & foreign) are captured, recorded and settled on a timely basis in accordance with the policies and procedures of the University. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that payables accounts are reconciled and for supervising the preparation of all payrolls prepared by the university. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that there are tight internal controls governing cheque disbursements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Certified Professional Accountant (ACCA), or equivalent qualification, in addition to the Chartered Accountant designation.
- Msc. Accounting or equivalent qualification.
- Strong supervisory skills and the ability to train staff effectively in accounts payable and payroll operations.
- Ability to delegate and exercise diplomacy and tact.
- Good time management and organizing skills, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independence in carrying out the Unit’s policies.
- Good judgment and excellent reasoning abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and priorities to conclusion.
